We acknowledge the sacred land on which our venues operate, and where the Fall for Dance North festival takes place: Tkaronto. It has been a site of human activity for 15,000 years and is the territory of the Wendat, the Haudenosaunee, the Anishinaabe and, most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit. Today, the meeting place of Tkaronto is still home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work in the community, on this territory.

Fall for Dance North thanks the following funding partners for their ongoing support:

A Dance Studio Without Walls

Catch a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the creative working processes of local dance artists and choreographers within the unique context of Union Station's West Wing at our Open Studio, as part of Union Dance. Witness the creation and rehearsal process of new dance works or watch a professional company dance class - all for FREE in the heart of downtown Toronto.

Birthed in Fall 2017 as part of our 3rd annual festival programming in partnership with Union Station, Open Studio has since expanded, bringing dance off the stage and into the country’s busiest transit hub year-round.

Open Studio will return to Union Station in spring 2020. Check back in the new year for more information!

Call for Artists

Each year Fall for Dance North invites artists and companies who are already offering a company class or plan to be in rehearsal to apply to participate in our Open Studio via an open call for submissions.

The open call for 2019 is now closed. Check back here in the fall for future opportunities.

Past Programming

Fall 2019

From September 23-25, as part of our annual fall festival, we transformed Union Station's West Wing into our Open Studio, an open-concept dance studio where the public was invited to observe the raw creative processes of renowned dancers and choreographers. Check out the artists and companies we showcased below:
