CLAIRE HEGGEN
Musicality and Theatricality of Movement
All levels, all abilities

Saturday October 17
6:30-7:30pm
Toronto Metropolitan University, 345 Yonge St., Toronto

Claire Heggen, a leading French figure in contemporary physical theatre, mime, movement, and puppetry, offers an introduction to her practice. Through simple physical actions and explorations of weight, tension, relaxation, effort, momentum, and stillness, participants discover the expressive possibilities of the moving body. In particular, this workshop will focus on how to move from the “real body” and its own musicality, to a “stage body” - one that is more or less fictitious, and the bearer of drama! Through explorations of duration, intensity, speed, and rhythm, experience how variations in time shape movement’s musicality and theatrical expression.
